The Leading Internet Company, Amazon has recently launched its new Online storage site called Amazon Cloudfront that allows any users to store their files, Mp3 songs, photos, videos and other documents in their free 5 GB storage. Users can buy additional storage by paying $1 per GB or get any one upgraded to 20 GB for free for an year by purchasing selected MP3 albums from Amazon.com.Cloudfront is a like my favorite service called Dropbox for storing files online which offers 2GB storage. The best thing I like about Dropbox is that after you install dropbox and configure it with your dropbox account, You will get dropbox drive like the normal windows folder from where you can easily sync and access your dropbox files.
Till now Amazon Cloudfront hasn’t yet brought any tools to use your cloudfront drive like any windows folder but there is a way to get it using the third party application.
Gladient Starter is a free Utility that will map your Cloudfrount account as normal windows local drive which helps you easily access your online files staying within windows explorer. The drive is connected to your Online storage which means if you make changes on the local drive, the change will too take effect on main account.
You can download the software free for your Windows operating system.It is available for both 32 and 64 bit windows. After download, Install the application like other windows application and on the first run you will get option for configuration.
On the first step of settings you will have to choose the licence plan for the Gladient starter software. If you have got the professional licence of the software then you may use that or the free licence also works enough.
The second step is just optional. Enter your email address and Subscribe only in case you are interested to get new Updates about Gradient Starter news.
The third step is the most important step and also got other sub steps for configuring the drive with your Amazon Cloudfront account. Click the “Add My cloud Storage Account” button.
Another popup window will appear on your explorer. Select storage provider as “Amazon Cloudfront”, select your virtual Directory name and proceed to next step.
Enter your Amazon cloudfront Account Login details on the next step. If you haven’t got Amazon Cloudfront account yet then you may Signup for free.
Now the final step of the configuration has finally come. Hit ‘Finish’ button to complete the configuration. The installation will take few second creating the virtual drives.
The main configuration window will now show your recently created virtual drive on ‘Virtual Directory name’ list which means you’re done. Now do the last hard work to complete the main configuration, hit the ‘Finish button’.
Now you will see new Virtual Drive on windows Explorer. Your Amazon Cloudfront folder is inside the Gradient Drive. The changes made on the files on this folder will eventually make effect on the files hosted n the main server.
